How made to measure works

Made to measure or not, every steel piece is made here. If a piece needs a measurement, the product page tells you which one, and we make it to yours.

Find the piece you'd like in the catalogue. Made to measure or not, you give us the right size and choose the finish. Not sure about the size? Book an appointment and we'll measure together.

If the finish you want isn't listed, that's not an automatic no. Another closure, heavier, lighter or finer, something the description doesn't mention yet: just ask, and we'll tell you whether it's possible.

A band saw cuts through a thick round steel bar, with coolant running over it, while a hand holds the workpiece.

A hobby that grew into a trade.

Everything starts as raw, unworked steel and only leaves the workshop once it's finished to our satisfaction. Whether it's a clamp, a collar or a bondage cross, every piece deserves attention.

Stainless steel and titanium can be polished on request, until they look like chrome.

No production line, just Marcel at his workbench in Rotsterhaule, in the beautiful north, making something lovely for you with love.

More about the workshop

Daniëlle and Marcel, together Damax

Marcel started out as a metalworker, designing things like railings and gates. In 2009 he met his Daniëlle, who helped his talent grow further, and that's how Damax began in 2013.

Custom requests played their part: someone asked for small handcuffs to be specially designed, something that couldn't be found on the market yet. That's also what Damax stands for: a place where you can say what you wish for, and where we then make it happen, in consultation with you.

Daniëlle looks after the admin and shipping; Marcel runs the workshop. They wear what they make here themselves.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know which measurement to give?

Use a tape measure, exactly where the piece will sit. Measure snugly against the skin, without a finger underneath: we work from that measurement and add the extra room for a perfect fit ourselves. Each product page tells you which measurement we need, with the range and the steps.

Still not sure? Book an appointment and we'll measure together.

How to measure for a collar
Is it kind to the skin?

Most of our work is 316 stainless steel, hand-polished until it shines like chrome, and a few pieces also come in Grade 2 titanium. Both are kind to the skin. Stainless steel does contain nickel, though, so if you have a nickel or metal allergy, choose titanium.

For the same volume, titanium weighs about half as much as steel, has a slightly duller colour and costs more. The round collar and the round cuffs come in both. Each product page tells you what the piece is made of.

Can you make something that isn't in the shop?

That's exactly what we do. Heavier or finer, a different closure, a size outside the range, or something completely different that you thought didn't exist anywhere. Ask us, and we'll tell you whether we can make it.
