Made to your measurements

Everything we make starts as raw steel in our workshop and only leaves once it's finished, whether it's a clamp, a collar or a bondage cross. If a piece needs a measurement, we make it to yours, and if what you want isn't in the shop, we can make it for you.

How a request works

  1. Tell us what you're looking for: a piece that isn't in the shop, or one in a different size or version. The more detail, the better, and measurements help.
  2. We'll email you to say whether we can make it, how we'd do it and what it costs.
  3. If you're happy with that, we make it for you, from start to finish in our own workshop.

How it works

Choose a piece in the shop, enter your measurement and pick the finish. Then it goes to the workbench.

Not sure about your measurement? Book an appointment and we'll measure together, so you don't end up with a piece that almost fits.

Allow 6 to 8 weeks from your order to dispatch, depending on the piece. When you order, it doesn't exist yet: we make it for you.

What you tell us

If a piece needs a measurement, its product page tells you which one, with the range and the steps. A collar, for example, asks for your neck circumference in half centimetres, between 30 and 60.

Use a tape measure, exactly where the piece will sit. Measure snugly against the skin, without a finger underneath: we work from that measurement and add the extra room for a perfect fit ourselves.

What you can choose

Besides the measurement, each piece lists its options. They vary: for one it’s the finish (polished, matt or black), for another the thickness of the steel, the closure, or whether it has an O-ring.

The material is 316 stainless steel, titanium or steel. Stainless steel and titanium are both kind to the skin and polished by hand; they differ in weight and price.

Can't see the version you want? That doesn't mean no. Heavier or finer, a different closure, a size outside the range: that's exactly what we do. Ask us, and we'll tell you whether we can make it.

What made to measure means for returns

A piece made to your measurements isn't covered by the 14-day right of withdrawal. The product page says so for every piece this applies to.

That's why we ask for your measurements so carefully: we can't adjust a piece afterwards.

Daniëlle and Marcel, together Damax

In our workshop in Rotsterhaule, Friesland, Marcel turns 316 stainless steel, titanium or steel into works of art by hand. You can also have something made to measure, in consultation with us.

Two hands solder a stainless steel ring on an anvil in the dark, lit only by the flame and the glowing steel.

How it began

Marcel started out as a metalworker, designing things like railings and gates. In 2009 he met his Daniëlle, who helped his talent grow further, and that's how Damax began in 2013.

Custom requests played their part: someone asked for small handcuffs to be specially designed, something that couldn't be found on the market yet. That's also what Damax stands for: a place where you can say what you wish for, and where we then make it happen, in consultation with you.

Who does what

Daniëlle looks after the admin, the shipping and the business side. Marcel runs the workshop.

How it grew

Damax hardly advertises. Most customers find us through word of mouth, and thanks to social media such as Facebook, Instagram and FetLife, they now come from all over the world.

Most people who find us were sent by someone who already wears our work.

Seeing it in person

Steel is hard to photograph: you only see how the light catches it when it's in your hand. Can't make it to Friesland? Indecent Wear in Beverwijk has a selection in store.

Would you like to see it in our workshop, or have us take your measurements together? Just book an appointment.

Frequently asked questions

Can you make something that isn't in the shop?

That's exactly what we do. Heavier or finer, a different closure, a size outside the range, or something completely different that you thought didn't exist anywhere. Ask us, and we'll tell you whether we can make it.

Request a custom piece
Can I exchange or return a piece?

Yes, within fourteen days of receiving it, without giving a reason. Let us know by email, and you then have another fourteen days to send it back. We'll refund you using the same payment method within fourteen days of hearing from you, though we may wait until the piece has arrived back with us.

The exception is a piece made to your measurements. It's made for you, to the size you give us, and can't be sold to anyone else. The product page tells you which pieces this applies to before you order.

That's why we ask for your measurements so carefully: we can't adjust a piece afterwards.

How do I know which measurement to give?

Use a tape measure, exactly where the piece will sit. Measure snugly against the skin, without a finger underneath: we work from that measurement and add the extra room for a perfect fit ourselves. Each product page tells you which measurement we need, with the range and the steps.

Still not sure? Book an appointment and we'll measure together.
