How to measure for a collar
Use a tape measure, exactly where the piece will sit.
Measure snugly against the skin, without a finger underneath: we work from that measurement and add the extra room for a perfect fit ourselves.
Not sure? Book an appointment and we'll measure together, so you don't end up with a piece that almost fits.
Every step, for each measurementTitanium or stainless steel?
A Grade 2 titanium day collar or 316 stainless steel? How they differ in weight, colour, nickel and price, and which to choose with a nickel allergy.
What is an eternity collar?
A collar that's meant to stay on, with a closure that doesn't simply open. What that means, and what it doesn't.
Day collar or eternity collar?
One comes off, the other stays on. The difference is in the closure, and it decides which piece suits you.
Wearing it day and night: what to look for
A collar worn 24/7: three things decide whether it can stay on, the measurement, the material and the closure. What matters, and what doesn't.
A collar to your own design
A collar to your own design: an image laser-engraved onto it, or stones in the colour, number and size you like. Send us your idea and we'll give you a price.
Made to your measurements
A custom collar, cuffs or jewellery, made to measure in our own workshop. What you tell us, what you can choose, and what it means for returns.
Frequently asked questions
Can't find your question? Ask usHow do I know which measurement to give?
Use a tape measure, exactly where the piece will sit. Measure snugly against the skin, without a finger underneath: we work from that measurement and add the extra room for a perfect fit ourselves. Each product page tells you which measurement we need, with the range and the steps.
Still not sure? Book an appointment and we'll measure together.
How to measure for a collarHow long does it take?
Allow 6 to 8 weeks from your order to dispatch, depending on the piece. We only start making it once you've ordered, so the time goes into the work, not the shipping.
Need it by a particular date? Ask us before you order.
How made to measure worksCan I exchange or return a piece?
Yes, within fourteen days of receiving it, without giving a reason. Let us know by email, and you then have another fourteen days to send it back. We'll refund you using the same payment method within fourteen days of hearing from you, though we may wait until the piece has arrived back with us.
The exception is a piece made to your measurements. It's made for you, to the size you give us, and can't be sold to anyone else. The product page tells you which pieces this applies to before you order.
That's why we ask for your measurements so carefully: we can't adjust a piece afterwards.
Is it kind to the skin?
Most of our work is 316 stainless steel, hand-polished until it shines like chrome, and a few pieces also come in Grade 2 titanium. Both are kind to the skin. Stainless steel does contain nickel, though, so if you have a nickel or metal allergy, choose titanium.
For the same volume, titanium weighs about half as much as steel, has a slightly duller colour and costs more. The round collar and the round cuffs come in both. Each product page tells you what the piece is made of.
How do I clean it?
With water and mild soap. Avoid abrasives, as they damage the hand-polished finish.
Can you make something that isn't in the shop?
That's exactly what we do. Heavier or finer, a different closure, a size outside the range, or something completely different that you thought didn't exist anywhere. Ask us, and we'll tell you whether we can make it.
Request a custom pieceDo you ship abroad?
Yes, we deliver worldwide. Marcel’s work is worn in the United States, Brazil, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, among other places.
Within the European Union, you check out in the shop. Outside the EU, choose your country in the basket and request a quote. We'll work out the shipping and email you the quote.
Can I see it in person first?
Steel is hard to photograph: you only see how the light catches it when it's in your hand. Indecent Wear in Beverwijk has a selection in store.
Would you like to see it in our workshop, or have us take your measurements together? Just book an appointment.
